We have been replacing boilers in Nassau County since 1979. Every town, every neighborhood. From the old Levittown Cape Cods to the big colonials in Garden City, we know the homes out here and we know the heating systems inside them.
We replace boilers in every city, town, village, and hamlet in Nassau County. Here are some of the communities we work in most often.
If you own a home in Nassau County, there is a good chance your heating system is older than you think. A lot of the housing stock out here was built in the late 1940s through the 1970s, and many of those original boilers are either still running (barely) or were replaced once with a unit that is now 25 years old itself. We see it all the time. A homeowner calls because the boiler died overnight, and when we get there, we find a unit from 1998 that has been limping along for years.
The good news is that replacing an old boiler is one of the best investments you can make in a Nassau County home. A modern high-efficiency unit can cut your heating bills significantly, and it removes the constant worry of a breakdown in the middle of a cold snap. As a licensed master plumber who has been doing this for over four decades, I can tell you that the technology has gotten a lot better. The boilers we install today are quieter, more efficient, and more reliable than anything that was available even 15 years ago.
Nassau County has a mix of everything when it comes to heating. The older communities like Hempstead, Freeport, and the Levittowns have a lot of steam boiler systems with cast iron radiators. These are the systems where you hear the banging and clanging in the winter. When it is time to replace one, you need a contractor who actually understands steam heat, because the sizing and piping are completely different from a hot water system. We have been working on steam systems since we started this business.
The communities built in the 60s and 70s, places like Plainview, Syosset, and Woodbury, tend to have hot water baseboard systems. These are generally easier to replace and give you more options, including high-efficiency combi boilers that handle both your heat and your domestic hot water in one unit.
On the North Shore, from Great Neck and Manhasset through Port Washington and Oyster Bay, you find larger homes with more complex heating systems. Some have multiple zones, radiant floor heat in additions, or indirect water heaters tied to the boiler. We handle all of that, and we size everything properly so you actually get even heat throughout the house.
We carry and install 11 major boiler brands. The right brand for your home depends on your system type, your budget, and what you are looking for in terms of efficiency and features. We are factory-trained on all of these and can walk you through the pros and cons of each during your free estimate.
For Nassau County steam boiler replacements, we most often recommend Weil-McLain, Burnham, and Peerless. These are proven cast iron units built specifically for steam. For hot water systems where efficiency is a priority, Navien, Bosch, and Buderus wall-hung condensing boilers are excellent choices that a lot of our Nassau County customers are happy with.
Nassau County requires a plumbing permit for every boiler replacement. The Town of Hempstead, Town of North Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, and the two cities (Glen Cove and Long Beach) each have their own building departments. We handle the permit applications and schedule the inspections as part of every job. You do not have to deal with any of that.
This is actually a big deal, and here is why: if a contractor replaces your boiler without pulling a permit, the work was never inspected, which means nobody verified that the gas connections, venting, and electrical are safe and up to code. If you ever go to sell your home, an unpermitted boiler replacement can become a real problem. We do not take shortcuts like that.
If you are on National Grid for gas (and most of Nassau County is), you may qualify for rebates of up to $1,000 or more when you upgrade to a high-efficiency boiler. There are also federal tax credits available for certain qualifying equipment. We help our customers take advantage of every program they are eligible for, and we handle the paperwork. Between the rebates and the energy savings from a new boiler, the upgrade often pays for itself faster than people expect.
We also work with several financing options if you prefer to spread the cost over time. Zero-interest financing is available on qualifying installations.
We are based in Melville and serve all of Suffolk County as well. If you have property in both counties, or if your Suffolk County neighbors need a boiler contractor, send them our way. View all of our service areas.
